A former city alderman has announced he is running for mayor of Annapolis in 2025. Jared Littmann, who represented Ward 5 on the City Council from 2013 to 2017, declared his intentions in December via Facebook. He is the first person to announce his candidacy to replace Mayor Gavin Buckley, a Democrat first elected in 2017, and reelected in 2021, who is term limited. Littmann, a Democrat, will have more than 18 months to campaign and fund raise before the Democratic primary in September 2025. The general election is on Nov. 4, 2025. He hasn’t officially filed because the earliest he can do so is one year before the primary, according to City Code. “There is no perfect time,” Littmann, 51, said in an interview. “I’m going to be going around asking people for their support and their time and their donations. So, I think I owe it to all of them to show that I’m 100% serious about this. I’m committed to doing this.” |
