Annapolis Mayor and City Council to Be Sworn in at December 1 Event at the Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium

The 2025 Annapolis Inauguration Committee, 501(c)(4), welcomes you to a swearing-in ceremony that will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, to inaugurate the new Mayor of Annapolis, Jared Littmann, and the eight members of the Annapolis City Council. The ceremony, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, 550 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, Maryland. A ticketed reception will follow, with proceeds benefiting the Anne Arundel County Food Bank in Annapolis. Attendees should RSVP for both the free ceremony and the ticketed reception. Jared Littmann was elected Mayor in the municipal elections on November 4, 2025. He will succeed Mayor Gavin Buckley, who is term-limited. Four members of the Annapolis City Council will be returning for another term: Ward 1 Alderman Harry Huntley, Ward 2 Alderwoman Karma O’Neill, Ward 5 Alderman Brooks Schandelmeier, and Ward 7 Alderman Rob Savidge. In addition, four new City Council members will be sworn in: Keanuú Smith-Brown in Ward 3, Janice Elaine Allsup-Johnson in Ward 4, Diesha Contee in Ward 6, and Frank Thorp in Ward 8.


The 2:30 p.m. ceremony will commence with a welcome from the Master of Ceremonies, Bishop Craig Coates. Attendees will hear remarks from U.S. Representative Sarah Elfreth, State Senator Shaneka Henson, and Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman. The swearing-in will then begin, after which Jared Littmann will give his first address as Mayor of Annapolis. The ceremony will conclude with remarks from Jefferson Holland, Poet Laureate for the City of Annapolis. Entertainment for the event will be provided by Squire Frederick and the Unified Jazz Ensemble.


An inaugural reception will follow the ceremony at 4:30 p.m. with live music from Doug Segree, light fare, and beverages in the * N Room. Tickets to the reception can be purchased in advance. ​​Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank (AACFB), which partners with 12 Annapolis-area pantries to distribute food, including fresh produce and lean proteins, as well as basic essentials, such as diapers and wipes, to our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. In addition, they offer support to local students eligible for Free and Reduced-price Meals (FARMs), by providing a bag of weekend food throughout the school year and before holiday breaks. AACFB also distributes food and other essentials once a month in Annapolis through their Mobile Pantry Program. The Mobile Pantry carries frozen meats, fresh produce, and shelf stable foods as well as personal hygiene items and diapers and currently serves an average of 80 households at every distribution. The Annapolis Inauguration Committee is grateful to you for helping support the Anne Arundel County Food Bank.


Shuttles will circulate on the day of the event to take Annapolis residents to the Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Routes and additional information to follow. Residents driving to the stadium can access free parking by entering through Gate #5 on Taylor Avenue or Gate #2 on Farragut Road. Expect increased traffic between 1:30-6:00 p.m. in the area around the stadium.
