Annapolis mayoral candidates Jared Littmann and Robert O’Shea both stressed the importance of diversity in the community during an LGBTQ+ issues forum Tuesday, but they differed on solutions to address concerns such as sports participation and executive orders.
The event was the first mayoral forum in city history focusing entirely on LGBTQ+ issues, according to its organizer, Carl Snowden of the Caucus of African American Leaders. Democrat Littmann, a former alderman and current hardware store owner, and Republican O’Shea, a business consultant, are competing in the Nov. 4 Annapolis city election to replace term-limited Democrat Mayor Gavin Buckley, who is ending his eighth year leading the city.
The city received a 95/100 score on the Human Rights Campaign 2024 Municipal Equality Index Scorecard, which assesses work done by local governments to protect LGBTQ+ residents and city employees. |
