Joe Johnson, Mike Pristoop and David Duba have spent their careers dedicated to protecting Annapolis, and ensuring safety for residents. I'm honored to have their endorsement, and confidence. Below is a snippet of their opinion letter they wrote to the editor of Eye on Annapolis about why they are assured I’m the right person to lead Annapolis forward.
"Annapolis residents deserve safe neighborhoods where they can connect with their neighbors and thrive. Yet, the persistent root causes of crime continue to challenge the well-being of our community. Tackling these issues requires more than just good intentions. It demands experienced leadership, evidence-based solutions, and genuine community collaboration. Jared Littmann, candidate for Annapolis mayor, brings all three and has earned our endorsement.
As a seasoned community leader, Jared has already started this process. Jared volunteers with the Police Accountability Board’s Trial Board and recently organized an Annapolis public safety forum that brought together community leaders to confront the most urgent public safety challenges. His campaign offers a transformative approach to public safety, one that fosters a stronger, more connected city for everyone.
Jared’s plan for a safer Annapolis recognizes that criminal behavior is often the symptom of deeper issues. His administration will support and expand violence intervention and prevention programs, such as those recently implemented in Baltimore and piloted in Annapolis. He plans to work with partners to provide meaningful opportunities for our youth through recreation, education, and mentorship, aiming to break the cycle of crime before it begins. His proposed reentry initiative is a testament to this progressive thinking, aiming to provide comprehensive support, from housing and job training to behavioral health services for returning citizens. This isn’t just about second chances; it’s about reducing repeat offenses and making our neighborhoods safer."
